Summertime Ground Rules
Since summertime Individual Users will be sharing the space with programming with and for children, some additional ground rules need to be in place:

  • Be Flexible with Space/Apparatus Needs: Your favorite point or preferred space may not be available, even if it is not directly in use, because it needs to be kept clear for safety and distraction reasons.
  • Dress Appropriately: We're not prudes – but don't let what you are wearing (or not wearing) be a distraction to the young children around you.
  • Behave Respectfully: Again, there are kids around, so watch your language. Keep side conversations to minimum, and don't talk about R-rated stuff.

  • Contact the Student Services Team by e-mail or phone (415-759-8123) during our open hours (Mon-Thurs 9:30am-8:30pm, Fri 9am-8:30pm, Sat 9:30am-4:30pm, & Sun 9:30am-8:30pm) about starting an application.

  • Once you have filled out your section of the application, you will need to receive instructor approval for your skill level in one of three ways:

    • E-mail the Student Services Team ( a video of yourself training or performing the skills you would like to be approved for. The video should be at least 3 minutes in length and clearly feature yourself rather than a group of individuals.

    • Attend an introductory or all-levels class and talk to the instructor (time in class permitting)

    • Schedule a Private Lesson with an instructor

  • If you are applying to be approved as an Aerial Individual User, a rigging lesson is required in order to rig any equipment. This lesson covers the inspection of your personal equipment and important safety practices, rules, and regulations. A rigging lesson fee of $35 applies. To request a lesson, speak to the front desk about setting an appointment.

  • Once your application is fully approved, you must pay a membership fee. Anyone in a training space, whether they are training, rehearsing, volunteering, spotting, holding ropes, or giving feedback, is considered an Individual User. This fee is non-refundable, non-transferable, and not proratable for holidays, gym closures, or any other reason.

  • If you are approved for IU but are away from Circus Center for more than 6 months, you MAY be required to gain approvals again.

  • Single Day: $10

  • One Month: $40

  • Three Months: $100

Individual Users who are also current Circus Center students receive a 20% discount off these rates (i.e., $8/day, $32/month, $80/three months). You must have active, unexpired classes on your account in order to qualify.

To reserve space, contact the Student Services Team by phone (415-759-8123) or e-mail Please DO NOT turn up in the lobby without a reservation and expect to get the space you want. We are a very busy facility and it is best to reserve at least 24 hours in advance.
